The BEST way to speed up your computer is to re-install Windows. This will get rid of all the junk and make it go faster.
Of course for some people reinstalling Windows is not something they wish to do, but in the long run it is the only real solution.

Also, dont confuse the speed of your COMPUTER with the speed of your BROADBAND.
The internet goes slower in the evening because everybody else is using it in your area (or country) so it slows down the whole of the local internet.
I am afraid there is not much you can do about it except get a faster broadband connection (or use the internet after midnight when everyone has gone to bed).
I am with Virgn and have a 20Mb connection. Lovely

VHG is right - it's like selling the car because the ashtray is full
try this first
http://www.ccleaner.com/download
it's free
then be honest with yourself - do you need all those progs?
and should those 10000000 photos and MP3s be backed up and then removed from the machine
then check and defrag the disk
probably sorted!
if not - you should have either got a CD with the machine
or have the option to "reset" the machine by holding f8 or f2 or .... (look in thebook)
use whatever to rebuild your machine (but you will loose EVERYTHING - make sure you backup before taking the plunge)

>ok thats great so how can i wipe this laptop and start all agin as if its a new one ?
Well most laptops come with the ability to reinstall Windows. This can either be via a hidden recovery area on your hard disk, or with a recovery CD shipped with the laptop.
You will have to read the documentation that came with the laptop to see how to do it on your particular laptop.
NOTE IF YOU REINSTALL WINDOWS YOU WILL LOSE **EVERYTHING** ON YOUR HARD DISK.
This includes personal files (digital pictures, mp3 files etc)
You will also lose all the programs you have renstalled since you got the laptop.
You will also lose details of all your userids and passwords so make sure you know how to log back on to all your web sites and so on.
So back up ALL your personal files before doing a reinstall.
