I have a 96 1.8Si 16v zetec, recently when accelerating it appears that the warning light is coming on, however if i simply take my foot of the accelerator the warning light goes off, if i re-apply the accelerator odds are the light won't come on, this generally happens under semi hard accelerating (ie up a hill, over taking) but as i say, as soon as i release the pedal it goes off, and odds are won't come on again till later. I can't feel any problems or hear anything ungainly, no lack in performance etc so its got me stumped, any ideas?

Check all your engine wiring is in good condition and not chaffed through and earthing out when engine moves on its rubber mountings, a lot of torque is produced when under acceleration, twisting the engine from side to side.
