Acoustic guitars

Hi every one

it was my birthday a few weeks ago (18th) and my parents bought me a brand new amazing sounding and beautiful guitar i think im in love with it. bu any way i have only ever had electrics and never an acoustic before and was wondering whether i had to have special polish or something to keep the top clean and shiny, also are the strings different to that on an electric.
