I am looking to buy a dehumidifier to get rid of some dampness i my home. I am looking to spend between 100 and 150. Which is the best one in this price range for reliability, economy and quietness?
Is it dampness or humidity? if it is damp you need it looked at professionally, if it is humidity you have a few options, ventilation is the most important thing, a house or flat needs to breathe, so you need airflow, take a look at this link, some good advice on it.
It's humidity. My wife hangs washing on the rediators and along with condensation from cooking etc, it has started to cause blackness on the window frames.
if its mainly caused bu drying clothes, them maybe a tumble dryer would be a more economic bet than a dehumidfier? Also cooking condensation can be reduced immesurably by simply using lids on saucepans...yes even when you are cooking greens and yes I know that you aren't supposed to but I do and it makes no difference to the quality of the greens!
I would agree with Disco, you need more ventilation, especially if clothes are in direct contact with radiators, in that case it would be far better to get a clothes horse and stand it in front of radiator, and when cooking have the windows open, also if you have "trickle vents" on your double glazed units open them, if you haven't got them fitted, contact a double glazing company to see if they can be fitted to your windows, good luck, Ray
