gr-d20ek safeguard mode fix

Hi All.

I have borrowed a JVC GR-D20EK camcorder off of a friend to get some movie footage off it to edit, and when turning it on it states E01 SAFEGUARD MODE, Remove battery and reattach... I cant seem to shift this message or get the tape out...

Please, somebody help me!!!!
