We have for a number of years been trying to sort out problems with the CSA who have been deducting money from my wages and advising myself and my ex wife that this was in fact correct and was due to arrears. It has now transpired that I have overpaid by 6000. They have agreed that they will pay compensation for mal-administration but any overpayments must be reclaimed from my ex wife. She cannot afford to repay this and in addition she has questioned the amount like me. Are the CSA beyond reproach and should it not be their responsibility to repay me and then try and reclaim from my exwife - they say not as I now pay maintenance direct. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your compensation will be a maximum of 50 so don't crack open the champagne bottle just yet!

My niece had an identical problem to yours (although the amount was only 80) and her ex was told to reclaim the money from her.

Both my niece and her ex contacted their MP and within 10 days the money was refunded.

Good luck.
