I have been cooking a roast chicken for the last hour and recently removed it from the oven to baste it with some fat from the roasting dish, however ............ as i tipped the dish to the side lots of blood came out of the centre of the chicken????! Has anyone ever experienced this before as I haven't and to be honest it has turned my stomach so much I'm not sure that I can eat it!! My husband disagrees and thinks that it will be fine but i'm not too sure. Can anyone reassure me that this is 'normal' and is not likely to be anything gross, like a burst cyst or something!! I look forward to hearing from anyone Many Thanks in advance
Thanks everyone for your help ...... and so speedy!!
Think myself and kids might go for a frozen chicken fillets and hubbie can still eat it if he fancies it!!!
Thanks again
if the chicken is not cooked you will have
blood coming out of the cavity ..and an
hour in the oven is not long enough to
cook it throughly ..give it another 30-40 mins
and it wil be lovely ..then let it rest for 20 mins
with foil over the top ..enjoy ..
She did say she`d taken it out to baste it, not that she`d finished cooking it. I normally rinse the chest cavity out before cooking. Can`t say I`ve ever noticed blood whilst cooking.
