When did they replace all the paving stones?

I am thinking of London in particular, but when did they change all the original paving stones - was it a post-war thing? There are still some streets that have lovely original stone, but now all the paving stones looking like concrete slabs - I'm not talking about tarmaccing roads because of cables

I get the feeling that you mean 'Cobble Stones', not paving stones?
I was thinking the same thing landie.

No, no, I mean the paving stones on the pavement, not the cobbled streets. The large rectangular slabs that you walk on.
