WEIRD goings on!

I have no idea what to do - the "my computer" and calculator box opens on its own at random intervals! Also, my system shut down all of a sudden twice as well. I have checked for viruses and spyware etc but nothing is showing up. Norton systemworks says all is fine as well. HELP!!!

Have you tried another keyboard? Maybe your windows key is sticking?

There's a few things you can try. Firstly reinstall your mouse driver if you've got one. If your using a USB mouse try a ps2 mouse ALWAYS TURN OFF COMPUTER BEFOR CONECTING OR UNCONECTING PS2 MOUSE. If you're still having problems disconect eveything from USB sockets. Finally it might be a windows explorer problem in which case your best bet is to reinstall WINDOWS.

all very good answers but another option may to install AVG free and spy sweeper,had same sort of prob and it ended up beging a virus which norton didn't find.

At a command prompt, type at and hit return.  This lists the jobs in the task scheduler.  Maybe there is something in there.

Random shut downs or reboots are often the result of damaged RAM. Like the others say, make sure your virus definitiions are bang up to date and do a full system scan, then I would suggest checking the RAM.
