Compatible ink cartridges

Loads of websites advertise ink cartridges that are compatible with printers, but at a fraction of the cost of the manufacturers ink.

Why should I not use them?

Are there any makes that are better than others?

I`ve had a few different brands that have been ok, but I don`t print photos, so I don`t know what quality of the print would be like if that was what you needed them for.

I have only ever used compatibles on Espon printers for years, for day to day letters and accounts work, printing, photos etc without any loss of quality; and of more importantance no ll effects on my printers. Just bought a new Epson SX600FW and the individual compatibles are available already and I shall be using them soon.
