I am looking to buy a printer for everyday use, to print off high quality A4 size images.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to which printer would be most suitable.  The initial cost isn't really an issue (within reason), but the running cost is.  We currently use a HP photosmart 7900 but find it drinks ink like you wouldn't believe (Or maybe you would).  Cheers for any help.

Try and look to see which cartridges are cheapest. I think Lexmark is quite reasonable and their printers are good too.
Our last printer was a Lexmark and though we couldn't fault it for printing the cost of the cartridges was very high even at a place like Cartridge World. A couple of weeks ago we bought an Epsom Photo R200 simply because the cartridges can be replaced a colour at a time thus saving money. The quality is very high - and it runs quietly unlike our rather ancient but sadly missed Lexmark!

I use this company for ink. I have an Epson stylus Photo 830U. I print very good A4 photos. 5 colour cartridge..3.33. Black..3.33. 4 for 9.99. All prices include free postage.Whatever printer you get, check out the ink prices on this site first.
