Is Prince Rainier dead?

I have heard a rumour that Prince Rainier of Monaco died on Friday, but it will not be announced till tomorrow. Can anyone confirm this?

Mail on Sunday report claims Prince Rainier is on life support which will be switched off after Easter, since casinos must close for 3 days of mourning and this is the busiest time for them.

Of course I cannot vouch for the truthfulness of the article.

Latest reports are that he's conscious but under sedation and his condition has stabilised. Why would they lie? Trying to upstage the pope or something?

oh, just seen kempie's suggestion, which must have crossed with my post. He's breathing with a respirator at the moment, but I don't know that they'll be in any special hurry to switch it off. Of course George V's doctors dispatched him in time to made The Times's deadlines, so anything is possible.

My contact says he died on Friday but this will not be announced until after the busy easter period in the casinos due to the official 3 day mourning period there.

I know that the news of the sc**ews has not been showb to be better than a set of Hospital notes, BUT Prince R sounds pretty dead to me.

I mean that I dont think he'll be reading anyof this and writinng in and complaining

well according to the BBC website he was still alive last night (31-3) but in such a bad way that Prince Albert has been given the regency.. ie taken control
