Sacked or walked out on Sunderland (don't care which). I, for one, hope he fails in every job he does in football. He is (and always will be) a nasty, vicious coward of a man. Your thoughts? Hero or villain?
Thanks to all who have taken the trouble to respond. My underlying memory of Keane will be: a fabulous player and (big) part of a very good Man. United team. But, also someone who let himself down time and again with unecessary boorish behaviour. Chasing the referee to the touch-line, a number of crass challenges (didn't he also give a "right-hander" to a girl in a night-club)? I know he isn't alone in the long line of thugs to have played the beautiful game, believe me. One of my favourite all-time players is Dennis Wise and I think he is every bit as bad, possibly even worse, because he didn't even have Keane's talent.
What I think this thread has proved is the need to get the Sports Section of this site up to date.
He did'nt want to play in the world cup, he denied someone else the chance, a lot of the Irish squad were'nt Irish.
He's spent a lot of money at Sunderland, so he deserved to go.
Lesblue, if Dennis Wise is one of your favourite players then God help you, he was one horrible spiteful little turd.
Shearers tackle on Neil Lennon was the worst I've seen.
VHG, the incident about the "I`m not your mate" quote was blown out of proportion, it was said in jest, it was picked up by the tabloids and used against Keane
RevFunk, Jack Charlton was born in Northumberland, Tony Cascarino was born in Kent, and Ray Houghton was born in Glasgow...yes all plastic paddys
Roy Keane was a winner and if he were still the Man Utd captain today he`d have kicked Ronaldos arse into touch with his diving antics that are ruining the game
123everton....You have got Wisey summed up perfectly. I hated the little sh1t when he was at Wimbledon and I don't give a monkeys what he gets up to now. But, when someone pulls on YOUR clubs shirt and shows that much enthusiasm for someone with such little ability, you kind of warm to them. I suppose its a football thing.
