Struggling this week. Two questions which won't give the game away (I've yet to crack it).

10ac Spoils of war - peers captured in Arizona? Just the opposite (6).

I have PRIZES and an extra A (wordplay generates an extra letter). I can't see how this works unless peers should be piers.

14ac. Spelunker drinking beer is a cracker! (7).

I currently have CLEAVER +A =C(ALE)AVER i.e. I've generated an extra A when I'm sure I want and extra L, where have I gone wrong? Any suggestions most welcome.

I have the title of the "useful reference" but haven't worked out how 10 answers are to be altered.

10a Peers = Pries, as in peering into something is prying into it.

14a I got an extra A too, and I agree with you about it being an "L".

Hint to complete the grid: Substitute gods for what they are gods of.
