I want to serve Garlic-y Breadcrumb coated mushrooms as a starter for Christmas dinner (not very adventurous am I?) Only a very novice "chef" and would like to prepare them the day before just to warm up on the day. Has anyone got any tried and tested recipies? Thank you in advance.

ive tried looking at the websites i use for recipies

http://www.epicurious.com/

http://www.cooks.com/

but with no sucsess, but i think asda or sainsburys do them frozen.

Dave.
i only ever tried to do this once, and none of the breadcrumbs stuck to the mushrooms, it all ended in a right old mess. i think i'd be tempted to buy them ready done like dave says, and maybe just do your own dips - although even the ready made bought dips are lovely too.
i should have also said if the breaded mushrooms arnt garlicy enough then buy a small jar of mayo and crush a couple of cloves of garlic into it to use as a dip......scrummy

Dave.
you could try batter instead its a lot easier than breadcrumbs and tastes nicer, dont wash the mushrooms wipe with kitchen towel, buy an instant batter mix but add sparkling water instead of flat ,deep fry then just pop into oven next day to heat up delish with onion&garlic dip
