sky box playing up

i get a bright green screen for a few seconds, then it turns itself off. this has happend twice in the last week. anybody know why and if it can be fixed? i cant ring sky, as i dont subscribe.

Are you using the Sky box as a freeview box or are you getting Sky programming for free?

MrB - not sure exactly of the difference. i subscribed for years before i realised that all i watched was the free channels, so i cancelled my subscription and watch what i can still receive, with the old viewing card. does that clarify?
doto - why do you think its the telly? its the sky box that switches itself off.......?

Maybe you should try calling Sky (as a generic punter) and see what they say.

They'll probably tell you that, because you're no longer a customer, they can't help you out.

Best thing i could suggest after that is buying a second hand box from ebay.....
