He's a freelance journalist who was former chief sports writer on the Mail on Sunday. At the age of 35 he got the idea for a book: asking some of the world's leading sportsmen to allow him to compete with them. Stafford spent nearly a year challenging the world's best in athletics, football, rowing, squash, rugby union and cricket. He even went three rounds with Roy Jones Jr, the world light-heavyweight boxing champion. The book is called Playground Of The Gods - The Fulfillment of a Sporting Fantasy (Mainstream Publishing).
