They are married - still as far as I know. The couple are a prolific hit writing combination, and obviously get their inspiration from their own successful relationship.

take a look at www.soulwalking.co.uk - ashford and simpson have a page on that site and just as Mr Hughes says....they were married in 1974 and still are.
