Next May I am visiting Zambia and Botswana with a few hours spent at Johannesberg airport.

Apart from the odd meal most of the food is part of the package. Apart from buying drinks, souveniers etc there should be very other little outlay.

What is the best currency to take - American dollars, Nationwide Debit Card or what?

Would appreciate and advice along with other useful tips.

Many thanks in advance

I think you need cash to "bribe" the customs officers at some of the borders.

This is true, a friend of mine went to southern Africa and it was made clear that tourists had to pay customs officers so they could get from one country to the other.

He was also very ill when he got back, some sort of virus, and was off work for about 3 months.

Enjoy your trip!
