OK, so, if someone was a 25 year old virgin, could they get the HPV Vaccine? AND would it have any effect?

Thanks.

If the 25 year old was a virgin, i doubt there's be any need for the vaccine, as I believe it stops the spread of cancer caused by the human papilloma virus passed via the male during sexual activity.

It's for early sexual activity isn't it? I need to reassure someone (been watching too much Jade Goody crap!) Thanks Icey!
I believe it is given to young (12-13 yrs) girls as that is the optimum age for the vaccine to be given,,,,the protection it generates is for later in the girls life when cancers and genital warts develop. Protection is not limited to a particular age group as far as I know.
Its supposed to catch girls before they become sexually active so would work for for the older female if not sexually active, However it is only now becoming available, so I would doubt that older girls would be eligible at the moment under the NHS
Just have your regular Smear Tests and don't have too many different sexual partners. If you do, insist they wear a condom.

If you've already had sexual partners, you may have already been exposed to HPV, so it probably wouldn't be of much use.

Nah not for me, but thanks for the answers! I just have a mate who has been reading too much on Jade Goody and wondered if it was worth her getting the jab, being a 25 year old virgin. I didn't think it was, simply because cervical cancers has a factor in terms of young sexual activity, and seeing as she hasn't, it'd have no effect?

Thanks for the replies!
