I agree with Geez.
Only footballers are (a) thick enough, and (b) sufficiently ignorant of the officials, to need treating in such a childish way.
They should let the refs do the same as in rugby ... if a defending player infringes, the kick moves 10 yards forward. If that takes the free kick into the penalty box, the free kick becomes a penalty.
