Hexogram = Hex (witch) + og (went / go<<) + ram (strike)

I think the "r" must be wrong

Since posting, it appears that hexogram is an occasional alternative spelling of hexagram, but the latter doesn't seem to fit the clue.

It seems to me that it does fit even to the point of using ex in hex to indicate former witch.
And I agree that hexogram is an alternate spelling.
