Long beard at work

Asking this Q for a colleague and not too sure which section to put it in, but most of the clever people are always in this section ;) Basically, does anyone know of any health and safety law surrounding how long a beard can be whilst working on a production line in a factory or working with machinery? There is a policy in place for women with long hair. yet when it comes to beards, there isnt one. I can find out more details if necessary, but i think it surrounds people from a certain minority and one of there staff is upset. cheers...

I think maybe if a hair net was worn around the beard, it may suffice.

The hair net has been brought up, but its not about contamination, its about it getting caught in moving parts.
