USB surge warnning
My child spilt a drink near my desk, last night, but I didn't realize, unitl I switched my laptop on, this morning, that some had gone into the keys.
I've attempted to wash the gunge out, but am still getting a 'USB Surge On Hub Port' warning, even though none of the ports is being used.
Can anyone suggest a way of cleaning the laptop?

the only sure way is to take the thing apart ...
some lappys have removable keyboards .. (clips at front of machine ... you'd need to look at the book
agree with everything said but bear in mind
something sugary will evaporate and leave goo ... eventually the goo will dry and should stop shorting out
goo and electrickery don't mix ... first thing you must do is stop trying it out .... remove the main battery ... remove the bios battery (if it comes out)
leave it somewhere warm ... and cross your fingers
an alternate alternative is to remove all power as before .... nip down to car bit shop and buy bottle of distilled (or de-ionised!) water
rinse out the goo ... leave for at least two days in airing cupboard or similar.
finally ... there are only two posting days to the nort pole ... cancel your kids order ... substitute laptop ... sorted ;)

Thanks everyone.
I have, more or less, got control of the machine, but the shift keeps applying itself, which means I have to save my work, leave the programme (e-mail etc), then go back and (hopefully) complete the task.
I've taken on board all the suggestions and will be very careful, in future...to keep kids out of my way...grrr!
