It would help to know if it's a "pocket door" or a pair of doors that slide past each other. Each has a different type of roller suspension, which is where your problem is most likely to have occurred.

Both type, at least here in the U.S. have an adjustment screw on the suspennsion mechanism that's relatively easy to, well... adjust. The door needs to be held upward to relieve the weight. This is done with a pry bar under the door. It helps if you have someone to help you, but, if you're well balanced you can do it by yourself...

Here's a link that might help:

It is the doors that slide past each other. Thanks for your reply, sounds rather technical to me. I thought I could just spray something to get it to slide easily. I will get someone I know to look at it as I am no good at this type of thing.
Would rubbing candle wax along the sliding mechanism help. It seems to work on draws.
We have this problem, as one of the doors 'derails'

Get down and look at the doors in relation to their position on the rails. If the rough door is in a different position, lift it and move it across to match the other one.
Silicone spray is better than candle wax.
Vaseline always works on mine
Hmm. Vaseline works on mine too, but what about the doors?

Thanks everybody for suggestions but my husband gave the runners a good clean and sprayed the boxes with I think WD40 now the doors are sliding like a dream.
I've just read all the postings and was waiting to say, try WD40...as it's pretty good for all sorts of things. Glad they're running smoothly now.
