Yorkshire Pud with currants... where from?

Hi all, does anyone know where this originated from... my friend always puts currants in her Yorkshire Pud, apparantly her mum did this and she got it from her gran. Even when making a sausage toad in go the currants! I asked my mate where this originated from and she doesn't know, all she knows is it's been passed down thru her family. Is this just her family recipe or does anyone know anything about this strange mixture?
