Arghhhhh! Sales Mania!

Thought I'd pop into Manchester for a wander round the sales and get some fresh air for my cold and it's bloody manic in there!!! Far busier than before Christmas.

Wasn't very impressed with the sales I did see in the shops I could get in though, am hoping there is better to come.

I escaped and had a nice coffee deciding to watch the madness rather than join it. Treated myself to some cake which was silly as didn't even fancy it once I'd bought it so a homeless man who came asking for money got an unexpected treat :)

Has anyone else been hitting the sales and picked up any bargains? x

I have only been out to get bread, milk ect, most of the sales stuff I have seen is not worth it, its madness here as well, there are queues to get into the shops! bizarre!

I hope they get better, wondering if they are reducing stuff bit by bit to keep the bargain hunters coming in.

Didn't even bother trying to get in most of the shops they were so busy, going to wait til it quietens down a bit i think :)

I just got some food and a treat for the cat and came back home.
I got some pretty good bargains in the run up to Christmas. My bloke got a very nice camera he'd wanted and I got several presents from one shop with a discount voucher.

Most of the so-called 'bargains' in the January sales - early on in January at least - often aren't all they're cooked up to be. You can often find the same stuff at the same, reduced price three or four months into the year. They'll probably be even cheaper in 2009, what with the economic downturn and all that.

I find the best way of getting a bit of post-Christmas fresh air is a walk in the park. No stress, no people (well, not as many) and it's the best bargain of all because it's free! In our park, you can even get a decent cuppa for under a quid.

That's actually a lovely idea. Wouldn't fancy the park nearest me, more lkely to get mugged but may well have a trip up to Heaton Park with my camera.

Thanks for the great idea :)

so was the cake the bargain or the homeless guy?
I get my fresh air by walking on the beach. The last place I would choose to go is to the shops; I seem to have missed out on the shopping gene. I don't 'do' handbags or shoes or fashion; just don't get it.
I'm sooooooo lucky. lol

Lol :) The homeless mad got the cake though he looked at me ever so suspiciously. He just looked at me funny and said "what's that" so I told him and he just wandered off with it!

I miss the sea, used to live on the welsh coast and could just sit and watch the sea for hours, even the sound is just lovely.

I'm not really a girly shopper. I wanted a new bag as mine is falling tp pieces but couldn't even get into most of the shops I wanted to look in. Far too many people about for me.
good on ya jenna!
I'm like you madmaggot, I've never been a fashion person, can't make out why people spend hundreds of pounds on shoes and handbags, give me a walk in the countryside rather than shopping any day.
I used the excuse that we needed fresh salad stuff and had a lovely alone time by the sea. lots of families with little children on new bikes on the walkway. AND I managed an hours stomp ( um thats only about once mince pie tho' .....Gym and swim tomorrow I think. ) Not shops !!
I'm with madmaggot & gelda here - I don't do sales. I have no real interest in shoes and handbags, I use what I have until it falls to pieces then buy a replacement. A walk by the coast is a far nicer idea

I'm going to try and go for a nice long swim next week.

I've never been one for any expensive girly stuff. So many of my friends have all this designer stuff and I'm just sat there with them talking about labels and how much everything cost and I just don't get it.

When me and a friend used to go shopping I'd end up getting bored and going for coffee for her to come find me when she had finished :)

I'm hoping to get a new bag and some digital photography books and maybe some nice house stuff though.
I have to start swimmimg again. I used to go to the early morning sessions and I think I will have to start that again.
I don't get this label thing either jenna. I have a friend who loves the sales and she buys loads of stuff telling everyone what a bargain it was. To me something is only a bargain if it's needed, just to buy it because it's cheap isn't a bargain.
