Bluetooth on laptop

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I don't know how to switch on the bluetooth inside the laptop. It has a bluetooth symbol on the front, left side of it and a light next to that symbol which is never on.

How do I turn it on within the computer?

Go to 'All Programs' klik on Bluetooth, wizard pop-up guides you thru.

It says it can't complete it because there was no bluetooth connection established. I'm trying to transfer photos from my phone and I DO know how to use the bluetooth on the phone... it's definitely fine there... it's just the computers bluetooth which I can't figure out.

If the pc has Bluetooth in All programs the pop up windows show a radio-wave icon; this should be ticked to light up on the pc.

To change Bluetooth settings for your computer
Open Bluetooth Devices in Control Panel.
To allow other Bluetooth devices to find your computer, on the Options tab, select the Turn discovery on check box.
To help protect the security of your data, we recommend that you turn on discovery only when you want a Bluetooth device to find your computer.

To allow other Bluetooth devices to connect to your computer, select the Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer check box.
To be notified when a Bluetooth device wants to connect to your computer, select the Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect check box.
Note

To open Bluetooth Devices, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Bluetooth Devices.
Some programs can also make your device discoverable.

Thanks for all the advice. I just tried all of it and I'm just guessing my laptop doesn't have bluetooth?

Thanks terambulan. It's a shame. There shouldn't be a light on the laptop with the symbol next to it, making it look like there's bluetooth on it! Gives you false hope haha!

That's Dell Emma, I have a Dell with enormous 111gb memory and no CD burner!

My Acer has a bluetooth symbol with a light next to it, and no bluetooth.

Hubby has an Acer Aspire laptop with a little button on the side with a bluetooth symbol, but no bluetooth built in.

If your laptop has bluetooth built in there would usually be an icon in the notification area next to the clock.

Emma go to a phone shop and buy a dongle, compatible for your phone.Plug in Usb port and the Wizard will guide you through. Good Luck.
