Is a cam belt/chain the same as a timing belt/chain?

However the important distinction is that cam chain has a long life expectancy and wear & stretch will become obvious with increased noise coming from the chain. Cam bekts being of a rubber compound have a finite life span - normally around 50,000 - 70,000 miles and must be replaced according to the manufacturers schedule. Failure to replace will result in a broken cam belt and catastrophic engine damage. Be warned !!
thanks. I think I have a chain rather than a belt but will check.
someone told me to be aware that i need to get the timing (chain/belt) changed at about 60,000 m and then someone else told me i need to get the cam (chain/belt) changed . just wanted to check that I will only have one or the other, not both!
