Problem burning onto CD

I am trying to burn a short video onto a cd/dvd. Windows media is not recognising that there is a disc in the drive. When I go into My Computer it is showing that there is a disc in drive but won't let me write files to it. Any suggestions? thanks

CD or DVD?

Windows won't burn DVDs on it's own you need additional DVD burning software to do it. it will burn CDs fine though.
