Repressing Memories...
3 Answers
Say someone only remembers something, such as sexual assault, when they are drunk. Yet can't recall it when sober?
What are the chances of it having really happened? Could the person imagine it? Could they be remembering something that really actually happened?
Opinions appreciated, thanks.

If you have a suspicion that it happened ask some people who were there at the time if they recall you going off with someone.
I think the chances that it happen depend on the person but I have an open mind that it could have happened. Hope this helps. :)

It is certainly possible that it did happen.
Your conscious mind is very efficient at repressing traumatic memories.
But think about what generally happens when you drink alcohol, you're more open when talking to people and in my experience you're alot more comfortable with sharing your troubles with people and talking about things you didn't even know were bothering you.
Maybe talk to your GP about this, there's probably some sort of therapy that will help you to remember.
