how come an irresponsible dog owner can be fined x-amount for fouling the foot path etc when i live in a large shopping precinct and every few days the police horses that go through this area leave piles of steaming s**t, the council cleaners on the next round usually the next day shovel this up maybe the police should have rear view mirrors fitted to there horses ,dismount and bag it !!

you live in a shopping precinct?
Question Author
yes 36 apartments here
'dismount and bag it' lol , nice idea.

No chance though as pigs like living in sh1t.
When I was a kid, any of that kind of stuff that was left behind by any of the various horses that came past was gone in seconds and on to somebody's roses.
I can remember some of our neighbours almost coming to blows over some which hadn't even cooled down. They looked at me as if I was mad when I suggested they might split it in two.
You wouldn't do that with the results of a dog going by, it's just no good as a fertiliser. I assume that's because it's the result of meat eating, rather than vegetable matter.

I can't believe that statement was made by an adult.....
You could collect it and sell it for manure? I don't find horse poop is offensive at all but then I grew up around them, used to eat my sandwiches with my hands clarted in the stuff! Least horses have oly been eating grass etc and not smelly stuff like dogs. Apart from that time when our Bears nabbed the chicken curry that was left laying around...
Why have you duplicated your post?
perhaps the problem is soiling the pavement, where people walk and children play etc, rather than the roadway?

jno its a shopping precinct people walking kids too
You won't get any more sympathy here than in your duplicated post that has already attracted no sympathy.
Horses pass by my house every day and do the same thing.

I thought you can only catch nasty things from cat and dog poo cos they eat meat which can contain bugs.
Horses are veggies so thier poo is quite sterile.
I do think the police should take some responsibility in cleaning it up thou.
fair enough, deggers, in that case I don't know the answer
SamuelCat is correct.

"Why don't you clean up after the horses when they are on patrol?

This is something we often get asked when we are on patrol in city and town centres. Horse excrement is classified as biodegradable waste. There is a big difference between horse waste and dog waste. Dog excrement is toxic and contains bacteria, which are harmful to humans. There is no offence related to animal waste other than that produced by dogs. Horse excrement contains no such transferable diseases. It is environmentally friendly and can be used as a garden fertiliser with little or no preparation. "
They should make those doing community service shovel it up.
I do agree with you, B00, it was a very childish statement. Everybody knows pigs are actually very clean animals and certainly would not live in s**te. 'Pigs' on the other hand, create it for the rest of us live in.
