please help

I am renting a flat that has post boxes at the bottom of the stairs. My landlord has his and his wifes' mail (including business post)(he is the MD of his own company) delivered to our mail box. I have told him that i'm not 100% happy with the situation but we continue to get his mail. Has he got any right as the landlord to do this??

No. If you can change the lock or put a lock on it.

Any post not meant for you, write 'not known at this address' and put in the post box

He seems quite clued up on his rights so I dont want to do anything that he can use against me..

But if it is a flat then there will be more than one post box anyway. Also as the landlord isn't he entitled to have mail delivered there?

There are 12 locked boxes, one for every flat. I have one key and the landlord has another..

Maybe he's trying to protect (or hide for tax or creditor or other issues, not that I'm suggesting he is) the home address, possibly with the company connection, is it the registered office of his company, you can check here...

He is the owner of the flat so can have access to whichever bit he likes in accordance with the tenancy agreement and other application laws and guidelines.

I can't see you could do anything unless he was interfering with your post which would be an offence in itself.

Perhaps you could suggest he gets a thirteenth mail box and has his delivered to it. That way he doesn't need to use yours and you then can't complain about his buisiness mail etc.

As an aside, could he have lots of mail boxes and rent them out or do you have to be registered or something?
