stage 2 car seats

Whats the requirements for a baby to be able to ride forward facing..
My LO is 21lb, can sit up unaided, but is only 6 months old.. is he too young?

You would have to check the weight against the instructions on the car seat but at 6months I would have thought he was too young.
I was told by a trained member of staff at Mothercare to always keep them in the rear facing baby seats as long as possible even if their weight is heavy enough for a forward facing one.
It is the safest thing for a baby. I know they are a pain to carry etc but you would never forgive yourself if you had an accident and baby was hurt just because you were eager to get him in the next stage seat!!
Don't mean that to sound awful but I would wait.

I'm gonna disagree with tigwig on this one, I'd go by the weights. Most infant carrying car seats say they are for bbies weighing up to 22/29lbs I'd check what the max weight your current seat is for and get him a new one, if he weighs too much for it

This is from the mother care website -
"1. Get the right seat for your child�s weight
A child that is either above or below the specified weight range for the car seat may prevent the seat from effectively protecting them in the event of an accident. It is critical that your child is in the right seat for their weight."

Hi, Thanks for both of your answers. I think your both right... Ill keep him rear facing, but he has out grown the carry car seat, so he is in a big seat that can be faced either way, facing backwards!!
