You dont have to kill them.....pick 'em off the road in early morning (fresh kill). Don't waste the fur and intestines can be fed to birds (bait for more).

2 of my neighbours shoot them (legal), another traps and drowns them (illegal) but she does eat them - she says she's not breaking her teeth on lead shot. :)

I've never tasted squirrel but I'd try anything once. I've eaten crocodile before.

Drowning is an old method of getting rid of squirrels - it is legal to trap them but illegal to release them anywhere.

It is probably less barbaric than a poor shot that wounds and causes a long and painful death.
