Black screen on laptop

I have a Advent 8111 wireless laptop. I lent it to a friend and now I cant get it to work. The Windows logo comes up and then the screen goes black. It was alright but now there's nothing on the screen at all. Can anyone out there help please.

Have a look at the keys on the top row of the keyboard.

Can you see one that has an icon of two monitors - one solid and one outlined?

If so, press that. If it doesn't work, hold the FN key and press it.
