I have never liked David Bowie but that doesn't mean i don;t recognise his inherant genius, look at the Laughing Gnome, I ran a record shop right through the 70s and he was huge!!!! same lable as Elvis Presley and Jim Reeves, and John Denver, but when i first worked in the store, the RCA rep used to call every monday and the LPs and singles and cassettes and 8 track cartridges were all on the back of the van!!!! i used to go in a pick what we needed, it was really cool!!! Mnd u, laughuing Gnome was on Decca cos they had Bowie before RCA

Ahhh well they split up just as i started work, but it must have been amazing to actually sell their stuff, there was a big re-release on EMI of the singles in about 1974 and we sold hundreds, they all had pictiue covers too
