How do I buy shares?

I'd be quite interested in getting involved in this stocks & shares malarkey!! The only thing is, I don't have a clue how to get started or how it all works.  Can anyone out there give me some handy hints?!

You can start off buying some shares via your bank.  i always buy mine from HSBC.  youdont even have to normally make an appointment, you just see a personal banker and say you want to purchase shares in a particular company and state how much you wish to spend.

To start with you could also invest in premium bonds and buy them at �100 a go.  You receive payouts if your lucky and have a good chance of getting fifty quid here and there.

investing wise i purchased shares in IMAX.  the new cinema system coming, but keep an eye out in the papers for interesting companies to invest in
