smoking ban

when the smoking ban came in my mate was all for it, great he says, but what about when the smokers stay out of the pubs and clubs and you are sat on your own ? never happen says he. you wait and see people will start staying in , not everybody wants to go outside in the cold and wet for a smoke.


New Years Eve, are you coming , great band on , no says me see you next year mate. six of them go out all have a ticket, guess how many were in the pub/club new years eve
















total of 8 , six were in my mates party , the band were excellent and cost the lanlord �1000. he now thinks landlords should have a choice if they have a smoking room.

It's realy looking as though the intelligentsia have seen the light and have given up this disgusting habit as the better class establishments have less people standing smoking outside . I suppose in time the lower class pubs and working mens club patrons will also get the message. We live in hope.

Well since the smoking ban in pubs this teetotaller doesn't bother going in them at all, so they're losing out on the extortionate price they used to charge me for soft drinks. I'm happy at home in the warm with Sainsbury's fizzy water- 14p for 2 litres x

i'm so happy about the smoking ban! i've just turned 18 so i'm seeing all my favourite rock bands live but before when everyone was able to smoke inside, i would have to stand next to someone puffing away. by the time the band came on i've got such a dry iffy throat i have to leave to get a drink of water! plus i stink of smoke after!

i love it now as i actually have a great time not having to worry about cancer being puffed in my face.

pubs were closing down in droves before the smoking ban, people are not sociable anymore and as long as you can buy cheap booze from the supermarket I expect them all to go

the pub i work in was heaving NYE and no-one was bothered about going outside for a ciggie, trade did drop off for a while, but since we've had new owners its picked up and is rammed most nights and i reckon 70% of the customers are smokers. mind you there is a pretty good covered and heated smoking area, that might have something to do with it.

i smoke but i prefer it since the ban, i can go in do a shift and not come home reeking of fags, nor do i have to put up with smokers at the bar esp cigar smoke.

loads of things have caused pubs to shut
cheap alcohol from supermarkets
increase in resturants and cafes
increase in clubs (who run happy hours for hours selling cheap shots)
younger generation have differing interests and find pubs boring

doc, I know you feel strongly about the ban but pubs were turning into chinese resturants and mc donalds years before the ban was introduced

you CAN have a fag, just the where is restricted and why should non smokers esp staff have to put up with woeking in a smoky atmos?

cazzz , funny how when then smoking ban came in and the smokers stopped going into the pubs and clubs.
they started to notice their takings go down.did the supermarkets only start selling cheap booze after the smoking ban came in.
my answer to lumination is , what strange place do you live in , places like the men arena in manchester have not allowed smoking inside for years, in the interval we used to go to the toilet bar area for a smoke.

i now no longer go to see any live bands.
