the chances are its the heater valve, common problem on Fiestas

the heater valve is electrically operated, and these are mounted on the scuttle panel between the engine bay and the base of the windscreen, it is a common failure
Yes, over-engineering. These valves can stick open or closed, and unfortunately they`re not cheap. The dashboard control dial is also electrical instead of the trusty cable type but can be tested with a meter. As Chas says a very common fault, also with other Ford models around the Millennium.
Have you checked the water level in the expansion tank? My daughter's Fiesta had lost the coolant and as the weather was so cold she noticed there was no heating very quickly and luckily there was no damage to the engine.
HI, a lot of people think because the system begins to blow cold It may be something serious, Before you panic as a lot do, do some simple checks, as we all know we have had a bad bout of Frost so before you even start the car, check the coolant hoses are they ROCK HARD? (No antifreeze) Is there water in the expansion tank? are they Kinked? reduces the water coolant flow, Fan belt, is it tight?are the controls in the right position? have you let the car reach the right temperature? you then go to what has been stated.
