Is anybody out there suffering from the supposingly credit crunch or not?Dont notice any difference from a year ago.Is it just the media and govournment brainwashing us all.
I'm not suffering personally but my daughter is,her boyfriend works in the building trade and has had no work since before Christmas, they are struggling to pay rent and bills and they have an 11 month old baby to support.I help them out with money when I can but I am not well off to start with.
I am certainly feeling it....my hours were cut in half several months ago. When I first started job-hunting in August it was still possible to find a ful-time job in my line of work. Within a matter of weeks all that changed. All positions advertised were part-time.........as is my new job. Yes-it is a better hourly rate...but still not near what I had been taking in. Meanwhile-gas and electric are about 1/3 more than last year.......not good.
Good point there re gas/electricty there pastafreak, I contacted my supplier recently as I had overpaid to discuss reducing my monthly direct debit and they said that prices have risen by 30% since the same time last year.
Not suffering yet mischief, but will notice a big difference in the next heating bill! We usually have the heating on twice a day, but as it's been freezing here, it's been on practically 24/7! Ne'er mind, we've been through the recession of the 70's & are still here to tell the tale!
I really do feel for families,'specially with young children, struggling to get through each day....
yes, we have been put on a 4-day week temporarily (at a financial loss of course) and depends on whether sales pick up what happens next, scary times, just taken on a new mortgage at a very high rate - fixed for 5yrs and am worried
