postal quiz
I agree with you to a certain extent about too many Q's & A's Re Quizmail.
However you completely miss the point made by other people.
I ask Q's on here when I have searched and searched.
Most of us want a clue and to be pointed in the right direction.
It's not our fault if some other folk feel the need to prove how much better than we they are and give us the complete answer.
I should imagine that all other quizmailers who read the answers then go away and check themselves anywa.
As to you rather unkind comments about certain people's scores i would like to point out that I do this quiz with some help from my husband, and usually score 148 or 149, with an occasional 150.
If you don't want to help then don't.

I don't know if I've given any answers to one of these Quizmail questions but I can assure you I don't feel better than anyone else on here just because I have been able to answer a question. By the same token, I don't agree with those who wonder why some folk ask what may be questions of a "homework" nature. If someone asks a question and I can find what I think is the correct answer I'll answer it, I'm not concerned why it's asked.
If folk want hints rather than the answer, maybe that should be made OBVIOUS
Sorry folks, I posted this back on the old Michael Caine question This is the updated version.
I can sympathise with Postalquiz and Oarsman to a degree because one does find questions do get posted before I have even opened my quizmail. However, some of us, and it does only appear to be some of us, still do this for FUN. Obviously there are also some of us that seem to take it all very seriously.
I agree that we should probably restrict our responses to clues rather than giving the answer straight out. But look at the Rain/Miss Thompson debate that took place last month. No-one can argue that research took place across the board on that question and in the end it turned out that we were all right. Personally I don't think Miss Thompson should have been allowed which is odd really because I was backing Miss Thompson right up until the final day when we switched to Rain. If a story called Rain was written in a book, even if it is published in a magazine under a different title the story is still entitled Rain. It is a pity that we did not have a similar result with the BATA question, much to the amusement of Genesis69 or was it 59 last month.
The point he/she missed was claiming that the question had not been researched thoroughly enough. In the end, because of the debate taking place we probably researched it too much, we may never have found BATA; I am pretty confident that everyone found Santa Isabel first, we did, but as we know how devious Vic and Dave are it all seemed just too easy.
I suppose this debate will continue as time goes by. I shall continue to use this site because, it is after all FUN and I enjoy the interaction between other quizmailers.
If you monitor the site you will find that there are only a few of us that come here and contribute regularly, others only come to chastise us.
On several occasions I have specifically asked for a clue and stated categorically that I do not want the answer.
There are 1 or 2 ABers who just cannot resist giving the complete answer.
That's not really what I was getting irritated about though; but I felt that some of the comments made recently were becoming a little personal and I felt uncalled for.
I apologise if I have upset anyone - that was not my intention.
I also do the quiz mainly for fun - but I must admit there is 1 team (members known to me) who I really like to beat each month.
Good luck all quizzers everywhere, whatever the quiz.
I still think Bata is the right answer!
Seriously, we all do our research, books ,Google, work mates, family and friends etc. last resort the Answer Bank. There is always one question that you cannot find the answer to.I have never given an answer, always a clue apart from "Rain" which was subject to much discusion. This site will not cause any harm to postal quizzes(is that the correct plural of quiz) unless some fool posts all the answers within a week of the quiz being sent out.
During this discusion there has been a number of references to the Great Brain Quiz. Could there be a bit of jealousy creeping in here, Quizmail is the first and formost Postal Quiz.GBQ is great if you like brainteasers, The Challenge, well say no more.
Harping back to the "Rain" question do you not think that the question setters should quote the reference source when there is a dispute over an answer?
Surely Bobadob cannot really believe anyone could be jealous of Quizmail. This quiz is alright if you want to spend 2 or 3 hours googling for answers but then what do you do for the rest of the month?
The content of GBQ as far as I know is only about 5% brainteasers the rest being made up of testing questions that require considerable research and a fair percentage of questions where the answers are not available on the internet so contestants need to find other reference sources such as their local libraries.
I have never seen Challenge so I cannot comment.
Sometimes the Q's are so long and convoluted it is almost impossible to start on the net as I for one can't decide what question to ask Google.
Looking at the division scores there are obviously a lot of teams who don't find the present quiz particularly easy. Personally I find some months easier than others.
Hopefully next months will be pretty straightforward as due to a holiday we will only have about a week to do the quiz.
