botched appendix scar....anyways to improve appearance...?
3 Answers
I had my appendix out - 25 years ago.
I was 11
the scar has been ''botched''.
it is 11cm long - as opposed to the usual about 5cm...
and i also has a large dent at one end, where a drainage tube was inserted....
most of the scar is flat, pale and fine...its just the dent...it looks like i have 2 belly-buttons!!!...
i have also grown round it which makes it deeper too -
is there anything i can do about it to improve the appearance of the dent....??
i have thought of bio-oil, but its a 25 yr old scar and i think its too late for that...
someone suggested 'fillers' like collagen or something, injected...?
anyone know if this would work?
and also if this would be available on the NHS? as i could not afford to pay...
it doesnt bother me as much as it used to...im just more used to it now i guess ...but i do get worried about people seeing it. and being put off by it ... its ugly...and wonky and id just like it to be flat...
many thanks

Many people have much worse scars than you which they`ve learned to live with. If it worries you when (if ever) you go swimming then wear a one piece costume. I have scars you wouldn`t believe from WW2 and they don`t bother me anymore as I show them off when the occasion occurs, and proud to do so.
mmm!! Ther are other occasions when one would be expected to display one's naked flesh, I don't think a one-piece bathing costume would be quite the thing to wear on such occasions.
Please try plain old vaseline twice daily. I heard a question on the radio some time ago in which a Chinese lady was asked for a remedy for scars to reduce them - in this case the scars were from eczema - she advocated Vaseline twice daily rubbed well in - she said there was no Chinese medicine better. Worth a try, but it takes time apparently so don't expect overnight results.

No, carlton23, I'm not having a joke...I have asked a simple question...i have not requested, nor am i interested in, your opinion on me, or scars in general.
Just because you are ok with your scars does not mean other people are...
yes of course there are always people worse off than yourself, but that doesn't mean you are therefore not allowed to be bothered by something less serious...
It does not keep me awake at night, but i just wondered if there was any simple precedure i could have to reduce the dent...
if you have no actual ANSWERS to give - because this is ANSWERbank afterall - not OPINIONbank, or STICKYOURTUPPENCEWORTHINbank, then kindly leave my question alone
not every question has to be desperately "end of the world" important you know....
thank you daisymae...i will try that
