How would it work to rent two houses to rent a larger one - any pitfalls with this? We will then want to sell the two houses and hopefully buy the one that we will rent when they decide to sell. Can anyone foresee any problems? Thanks
The biggest problem I can see is if you have void periods in either or both of the properties you are renting out.
Not a problem if you do not rely on the rents on your two properties to pay the rent on the property you are renting.................but if you do rely on it, then could be a big problem.
Jeeez, this has to be some kind of riddle.
You own a house, someone else owns another house. The two families want to rent out their respective houses and move in together into a third larger house.
When that third house comes up for sale (if it ever did) you want to each sell the original houses that you own?
If so, sounds rather difficult to co-ordinate on timings.
Maybe the house you rent will never come up for sale, or will just take so many years that it won't be worth it. I know of a house in the area I live in that has been rented out for 30 odd years. If you were the one person paying rent on that house for all that time it wouldn't really have been worth it would it? (And it's still not for sale!).
