Hi Guys or Galls does antbody know if the current outbreak of (Bugs, germs, cough's colds etc, etc) As been classed as an epidemic by the B.M.A?

Thanx 4 that China Doll i take it you work in the medical profesion then? If so do you happen to know how bad it wud have to get b4 it's classed as an epidemic?

I don't I'm afraid but I suspect it would have to be something that has an actual diagnosis (rather than the usual winter assortment) and that is meaning hospitals are having to close wards or deal exclusively with this problem and stoping their normal work load.

We had to close a ward last week due to novo-virus (possible sp) which was a great help towards the bed crisis we were already experiencing!

For flu it's classed as an epidemic if there are 400 consultations per 100,000 of the population in a week (there are different figures for different illnesses.)
