Happy New Year Chris
My pal in Texas would like us to bring over a couple of xmas puds as she really likes them, after xmas they are going cheap in the supermarkets, would we be able to take them through US customs ? I was thinking in our suitcase rather than hand luggage.
best regards Dee

When I visited a friend in Kentucky I took battenburg cake, haribo sweets, maltesers, parma violets and Uncle Joes mint balls. I had to fill out a customs form on the plane but there was no problem.
When a friend went to Florida she declared tea bags on the customs form and had to have her suitcases x-rayed on arrival, but it only took a couple of minutes.

It looks like Spudqueen has answered for me. (Ta, Spudqueen). I've known friends take various types of British food into the USA and I've never heard of any significant problems.
Your only difficulty might actually be in finding some discounted puds in the supermarkets. I usually buy some myself around this time of year but I've not seen any in my local supermarkets. (The nearest Morrison's, for example, sold out of all their Christmas puds several days before Christmas).

I have seen problems at USA airports. I had a sniffer dog go beserk because I had stashed a banana in my backpack. I'd eaten it on the flight but he could still smell it. I was warned that I could be fined. The sniffer dogs run over all bags, hand baggage and hold luggage. They don't just take the stuff off you, they fine you as well as you have attempted to smuggle illegal food in. I wouldn't take the chance.
