I have a set of bedroom drawers which have been in a damp and humid climate and smell very musty. Does anyone have a foolproof way of removing this smell and ensuring it does not come back (other than keeping it in a dry environment obviously). The outside of the drawers is finished with a veneer but the insides are raw unfinished wood and this is where the smell is coming from

Afraid i've only just seen your question janetla, but this will work! Do you know anyone with a boiler room pref a solid fuel boiler. If so, ask if you can stand your drawers (bedroom drawers that is) in the boiler room, drawers out of the unit for at least six weeks or as long as the boilers
lit for the winter. It will do the trick, it did for a set of old oak drawers I bought, they stunk blooming awful, but after six weeks,,, nothing.
Finding a boiler rooms the problem, good luck.

Just had a word with the old guy next door who told me
about the boiler room treatment, he insists it has to be
a solid fuel boiler, why ?I dont know, nor does he.
He put mine in the boiler room of an old school,I think it was anthracite fired.
