Exchanging shoes bought in the sale
10 Answers
I got a pair of shoes as a gift for Christmas from Office but they don't fit. They are my size but they are so small I can't get my feet in them. I have the receipt but Office have refused point blank to exchange them for a bigger size as they say it's their policy not to exchange or refund any goods bought in the sale! The back of the receipt states they are happy to exchange or refund if required but staff have said this does not apply to anything bought in the sale and the person who bought them would have been told this at the time. They say if they had known they would have went elsewhere.
I have managed to exchange in other shops some even without the receipts but Office are sticking to their guns and told me to just buy another pair in a bigger size. So much for customer service and having the receipt seems pretty useless.

if u have another store nearby i would try again there. If not I would try again at the same store. That is ridiculous they wont swop for another size. I bought a dvd digital recorder for a present for xmas and it wasnt needed so i went to take it back t argos and it was excempt from the 30day guarantee. but i argued it out a bit and got the refund.......

Thanks for your replies. The shop was happy to exchange before I produced the receipt. Then they saw they were bought in the sale, although most of their entire shop was in the sale 2 days before Christmas. They were also happy to exchange if I had bought them at full price. Most consumer sites seem to say that I have the same rights as full priced goods, so if they were willing to exchange at full price then they should exchange for sale goods as well as they have set a precedent. What really bothers me is they have the bigger size in stock and they are still being sold at the same price on my receipt so no skin off their nose really. But now they have lost any future sales from my family, I'll be asking for gift vouchers next year.
Thanks again
