I want to change the squeeky horn on my Polo and have bought a more macho horn off a Beefy Mitsubishi from a breakers. Trouble is that the new horn has two male connectors and the old one has only one. Can I use a double connector with a single male connector on the input side to take the existing female connector or do I have to remove the existing and rewire somehow ? Answers should be suitable for a fully paid up nitwit. Thanks.

If you are changing a horn with single connector to a horn with two then one of the two new connectors will probably need to be wired to earth/car body.

If your question is about changing male to female connectors then anything goes as long as the contact is good, won't shake free or suffer from corrosion.

Thanks, BillyBB, but I thought the metal horn would be earthed through the fixing bolt and it doesn't have a separate earth wire at the moment. The connector on the end of the loom cable is female so I don't think I will have to change that - but I'm no expert !
easy to do this connect your existing wire to one of the terminals (check if it has + - markings if it doesnt then dont worry) then connect a wire to the other terminal(-) and that goes to earth on the body/chassis
