A couple of weeks ago I woke up with a pain in my thumb. When I moved it, I could feel it clicking but the pain wasn't that bad, so I just ignored it. Then last week, it started to get really painful and now if I move it upwards too sharply I get a pain that goes down my thumb and into my wrist and the clicking is back. Have I damaged something? Should I go to my doctor about this? I have an appointment on friday anyway, but should I wait or go to another professional?

Your best to see your doctor regarding this - may need an xray. Have you had any pins and needles around this area or in any other fingers? Any feeling of numbness in the hand, fingers or wrist?

No, I haven't had any numbness or pins and needles. It seems a bit better today, but if I move it too quickly it really hurts.
You are best to go ahead and see your doctor, at least they will be able to examine the area and give you the appropriate treatment required. The doctor may prescribe ibuprofen for any inflamation you may have in the area or a good strong painkiller - get it checked anyway and keep exercising the area the best you can, don't let it stiffen up.

Take care, hope all goes well.x
